The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory for the entire state of Ohio as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to adversely impact air quality. Pollutants across the state are expected to range from the 'Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups' category in the southwest part of the state to the 'Unhealthy' category in the rest of the state. Hourly concentrations at times may reach the 'Very Unhealthy' to 'Hazardous' categories. It is recommended, when possible, to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory conditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in the nose, throat, and eyes. NEW BREMEN - Sailing down the Miami and Erie Canal on a beautiful fall evening took on a new twist Saturday as the New Bremen Giant Pumpkin Growers sponsored a pumpkin regatta.
The organization, which baked the world's largest pumpkin pie one year and dropped huge pumpkins onto vehicles with smashing success the next year, hit on a novel feature for its autumn festival. [More]

NEW BREMEN - There's activity once more at the old New Bremen Speedway, but it's for the last time. Safety concerns have caused owners, Crown Equipment Corporation in New Bremen, to bring down the old track.
Five people were injured when two vehicles collided head on in the 7000 block of state Route 219 near Montezuma. The mishap occurred at 6:27 p.m. Sunday, according to Mercer County Sheriff's Office reports.
