Barn fire
Photo by Jason Snyder/The Daily Standard

Around 50 firefighters and nine trucks responded to a blazing barn fire at 8169 Mercer Auglaize County Line Road on Friday afternoon. At 5:25 p.m., firefighters from Celina, St. Marys, St. Marys Township and Mendon responded to a call of a burning barn at the property owned by Shawn Langenkamp. Celina firefighter Jon Schumm said although a monetary loss has not yet been determined, the barn was deemed a total loss, with only an outer shell remaining. He also pointed out that heat from the fire caused extensive damage to the nearby house and garage. No one was injured during the fire, and Schumm said he didn't think there were any animals in the barn. However, a car, old camper, boat trailer and new lawnmower located within were completely destroyed. Celina firefighters returned from the scene around 9 p.m.
