The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory for the entire state of Ohio as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to adversely impact air quality.
Pollutants across the state are expected to range from the 'Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups' category in the southwest part of the state to the 'Unhealthy' category in the rest of the state. Hourly concentrations at times may reach the 'Very Unhealthy' to 'Hazardous' categories.
It is recommended, when possible, to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory conditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in the nose, throat, and eyes.

Ben Dirksen
Ben Dirksen, 65, 5717 Medford Road, Rossburg, died at 4 a.m. March 30, 2008, at his residence.
He was born Dec. 15, 1942, in Darke County to Gregory and Elizabeth Wilkinson Dirksen. On July 20, 1963, he married Anita M. Rindler, who survives in Rossburg.
Also surviving are three sons, Jeff (Lisa), Troy, Tom (Brenda), Versailles, and James (Stacy), Greenville; a daughter, Denise Wells, Sidney; five brothers, Cletus and Ronald (Marilyn), all of New Weston, David (Rosemary), Madison, Ind., John (Shirley), Porterville, Miss., and Michael, Greenville; a sister, Kathleen Gasson, Versailles, a sister-in-law, Kathy Schulze of Michigan; and 12 grandchildren.
Deceased are a brother, William, and two sisters, Mary Margaret and Mary Ann.
He had worked at North Star Hardware. He was a veteran of the Army National Guard and a member of the North Star American Legion.
There are no services.
Arrangements were handled by Hogenkamp Funeral Home, St. Henry.
