The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory for the entire state of Ohio as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to adversely impact air quality.
Pollutants across the state are expected to range from the 'Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups' category in the southwest part of the state to the 'Unhealthy' category in the rest of the state. Hourly concentrations at times may reach the 'Very Unhealthy' to 'Hazardous' categories.
It is recommended, when possible, to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory conditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in the nose, throat, and eyes.

Elmer Schulze
Elmer B. Schulze, 84, 5257 Philothea Road, St. Henry, died at 8:27 a.m. June 18, 2008, at Mercer County Community Hospital, Coldwater.
He was born March 15, 1924, in Osgood to John and Agatha Streacker Schulze. On April 25, 1953, he married Mary Lou Fiely, who survives in St. Henry.
Other survivors are a son, Nicholas (Jerolyn), Coldwater; a daughter, Martha, Troy; five brothers, Alvin, St. Marys, Linus (Bernadetta), New Bremen, Walter (Dolores), Osgood, Erwin (Eileen), Cassella, Victor (Judy), McCartyville; and a sister-in-law, Rita Schulze, Wapakoneta.
Deceased are three brothers, Leander, Wilbert and John; a sister Margaret Dircksen, a brother-in-law, Albert Dircksen; and a sister-in-law, Dolores Schulze.
He was a retired farmer and had worked at Midmark Corp, Versailles, where he was a member of the 25-year club. He was a member of the St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Carthagena, and the St. Lawrence Men's Society of the church, the American Legion, Osgood, and a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in World War II. He was a survivor of the Normandy D-Day landing.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. Larry Wyen officiating. Burial is at the church cemetery.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Friday at and 9-10 a.m. Saturday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater.
