The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory for the entire state of Ohio as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to adversely impact air quality.
Pollutants across the state are expected to range from the 'Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups' category in the southwest part of the state to the 'Unhealthy' category in the rest of the state. Hourly concentrations at times may reach the 'Very Unhealthy' to 'Hazardous' categories.
It is recommended, when possible, to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory conditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in the nose, throat, and eyes.

Betty Place
Betty M. Place, 86, of 56 Southmoor Shores Drive, St. Marys, died at 9:57 p.m. June 25, 2008, at the St. Marys Living Center.
She was born Feb. 23, 1922, in St. Marys, to Scott J. and Clarabell Yocum Miller. On March 13, 1943, she married Dr. Robert A. Place, who died Nov. 12, 2002.
Survivors are two sons, Scott (Jeanine), Grovetown, Ga., and Robert (Paula), Phoenix, Ariz.; a brother-in-law, George "Bill" Place, St. Marys; a sister-in-law, Betty Jordan, St. Marys; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Deceased are a daughter, Jane Place; two brothers, Donald and William Miller; and two sisters, Della Wiswasser and Bernice Rausch.
She was a 1940 graduate of Spencerville High School and a graduate of the Fort Wayne, Ind. Beauty College.
She assisted her husband in the operation of his veterinary practice, operated a pet grooming business and the former Dome Driving Range, all in St. Marys. She was a member of the Wayne Street United Methodist Church, Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary, the Lake Improvement Association, all in St. Marys, as well as the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Wapakoneta, and the Celina Moose Lodge.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Rev. Ed Groff officiating. Burial is at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys.
Calling is 3-6 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Contributions can be made to either the Wayne Street United Methodist Church building project, the Grand Lake Hospice, or the Fisher Center for Alzheimer's Research Foundation.
