The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory for the entire state of Ohio as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to adversely impact air quality.
Pollutants across the state are expected to range from the 'Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups' category in the southwest part of the state to the 'Unhealthy' category in the rest of the state. Hourly concentrations at times may reach the 'Very Unhealthy' to 'Hazardous' categories.
It is recommended, when possible, to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory conditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in the nose, throat, and eyes.

John Mescher
John F. Mescher, 80, 8494 Indian Trail Road, Maria Stein, died Dec. 20, 2008, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima, following a fall on the ice.
He was born March 5, 1928, in Maria Stein, to William and Anna Overman Mescher. On Aug. 11, 1951, he married Mary Catherine "Toot" Thobe, who survives.
Other survivors are two sons, Wayne, Piqua, and Craig (Elizabeth), Osgood; three daughters, Donna (Mike) Berger, Versailles, Ann (Joe) Hess, Carthagena, and Nadine (Alan) Wendel, Osgood; four brothers, George and Leander (Carol), all of Dayton, Paul, Celina, and Tom, Maria Stein; two sisters, Marie Schmidt, Vandalia, and Rita Sullivan, Gresham, Ore.; 13 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Deceased are two brothers, Albert and Alvin; three sisters and their spouses, Alvina and Henry Kuether, Agnes and Lawrence Hoying, and Grace and Richard Selhorst; two brothers-in-law, Leo Schmidt and George Sullivan; and three sisters-in-law, Martha, Joan and Jeanette Mescher.
He was a farmer and retired from Gagel's Plumbing and Heating, Minster. He was a member of St. John Catholic Church and its Holy Name Society, Maria Stein.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church, the Rev. Gene Schnipke officiating. Burial is at St. John Cemetery, Maria Stein.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. today and 9-10 a.m. Tuesday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater.
