Bridge assembly
Photo by Mark Pummell/The Daily Standard

A worker directs a crane operator in placing a 90-foot-long, concrete box beam over the St. Marys River for the new Frysinger Road bridge. Work on the new $597,000 bridge began in February and is expected to be completed next month, Mercer County Engineer Jim Wiechart said. The project is 100 percent federally funded through a program that gets a portion of the gas tax. Wiechart said the county has two other federally-funded projects that it hopes to get under contract this year - a $900,000 project on Township Line Road and a $500,000 project on Tomlinson Road, both in northern Mercer County. There are eight other bridge projects the engineer's office hopes to get completed this year. Brumbaugh Construction of Arcanum is doing the work on Frysinger Road.
