The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory for the entire state of Ohio as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to adversely impact air quality.
Pollutants across the state are expected to range from the 'Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups' category in the southwest part of the state to the 'Unhealthy' category in the rest of the state. Hourly concentrations at times may reach the 'Very Unhealthy' to 'Hazardous' categories.
It is recommended, when possible, to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory conditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in the nose, throat, and eyes.

A. Eugene Engel
A. Eugene Engel, 81, 503 E. Auglaize St., Wapakoneta, died at 2:18 p.m. June 24, 2009, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.
He was born July 20, 1927, in St. Marys to Alvin H. and Novella C. Lipp Engel. On June 27, 1953, he married Shirley M. Meier, who survives.
Other survivors are a brother, Don (Sylvia) Engel, St. Marys; a brother-in-law, Leroy (Hilda) Meier, Mount Healthy; a sister-in-law, Lois (Don) Winerberg, Cincinnati; and a caregiver, Dave (Charlene) Curry, Wapakoneta.
He retired from the Wapakoneta Machine Company where he worked for 40 years as a machine/grinder operator. He also sold automobiles many years for the L.E. Brandt and Sons dealership in Wapakoneta. He was a 1945 graduate of Memorial High School, St. Marys. He was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, St. Marys, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge, Brand's Lake Fishing Club and Veterans of Foreign Wars, all in Wapakoneta.
Services are 2 p.m. Saturday at Miller-Long and Folk Funeral Home, St. Marys, the Rev. Bill Drummond officiating. Burial is at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys.
Calling is 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
