The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory for the entire state of Ohio as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to adversely impact air quality.
Pollutants across the state are expected to range from the 'Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups' category in the southwest part of the state to the 'Unhealthy' category in the rest of the state. Hourly concentrations at times may reach the 'Very Unhealthy' to 'Hazardous' categories.
It is recommended, when possible, to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory conditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in the nose, throat, and eyes.

Roger Koons
Roger R. Koons, 69, of 303 Orchard Drive, St. Marys, died at 7:18 p.m. July 27, 2009, in the emergency department at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
He was born March 6, 1940, in St. Marys to Norman "Pete" and Rachel Stewart Koons. On July 27, 1963, he married Diane S. Haney, who survives.
Other survivors are, two daughters, Heidi (Daniel) Lemmerman and Heather (Carl) Moeller, and a son, Tim (Mary) Koons, all of St. Marys; a sister, Karen (Lou) Dimitroff, Vienna, Va.; and eight grandchildren.
He retired from the former Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., St.Marys, where he was employed as a chemical engineer. He was a member of the St. Paul's United Church of Christ, St. Marys. He was a 1958 graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School and received a bachelor's degree in engineering from Indiana Technical Institute, Ft. Wayne, Ind.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church, the Rev. Dr. Ed Bray, officiating. Burial is at Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys
Calling is 24 and 68 p.m. Thursday at the Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys and after 9:30 a.m. on Friday at the church.
