The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory for the entire state of Ohio as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to adversely impact air quality.
Pollutants across the state are expected to range from the 'Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups' category in the southwest part of the state to the 'Unhealthy' category in the rest of the state. Hourly concentrations at times may reach the 'Very Unhealthy' to 'Hazardous' categories.
It is recommended, when possible, to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory conditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in the nose, throat, and eyes.

Arnold Beumer
Arnold F. "Arnie" Beumer, 79, 8919 E. state Route 26, Portland, Ind., died at 10:25 a.m. Nov. 11, 2009, at his residence.
He was born Dec. 25, 1929, in Fort Recovery to August and Theresia Wendel Beumer. On April 16, 1953, he married Eugenia "Jean" Kotte, who survives.
Other survivors are a son, Greg (Kathy) Beumer, Modoc, Ind.; five daughters, Evelyn (Mark) Arnold, Portland, Ind., Chris (Steve) Retter, Winchester, Ind., Dot (Dave) Garman, Fort Recovery, Geralyn (Ted) Male, Ansonia, and Angela (Brett) Johnson, Hilliard; six sisters, Rosalia (LeRoy) Larger, McCartyville, Sister Marita Beumer, Dayton, Irene (Fred) Rose, St. Henry, Juanita (Leonard) Klosterman, Miamisbug, Ruth (Ralph) Pleiman, Sidney, and Rita (Carl) Pleiman, Fort Recovery; a sister-in-law, Linda Beumer, Greenville; 19 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two brothers, Alvin and Richard.
He was a retired farmer and a member of Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, Fort Recovery, the Catholic Knights of St. Joe, the Fort Recovery Ambassadors Club in which he served as chairman of the tractor pulls for many years, the National Tractor Pullers Association and a member of the Board of Directors of World Pullers International. He was inducted into the national Tractor Pullers Association Hall of Fame in 2007 and was recipient of the Fort Recovery Citizen of the Year award in 1983.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. Thomas Dorn officiating. Burial is at St. Marys Cemetery, Fort Recovery.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Firday and 9-10 a.m. Saturday at Brockman-Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery.
