The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory for the entire state of Ohio as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to adversely impact air quality.
Pollutants across the state are expected to range from the 'Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups' category in the southwest part of the state to the 'Unhealthy' category in the rest of the state. Hourly concentrations at times may reach the 'Very Unhealthy' to 'Hazardous' categories.
It is recommended, when possible, to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory conditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in the nose, throat, and eyes.

Don Speckman
Don F. Speckman, 82, 11137 Circle Drive, St. Marys, died at 5:06 a.m. Dec. 12, 2009, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
He was born Jan. 4, 1927, in New Bremen to Felix and Erma Bertke Speckman. On May 21, 1949, he married Jeannette Reitz, who survives.
Other survivors are, two sons, Craig Speckman, St. Marys and Chris (Janice) Speckman, New Knoxville; a brother, Dale (Beverly) Speckman, Dayton; a sister-in-law, Margaret Patton, Denver, Colo.; four grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was founder and owner of Speckman Automotive, with stores in St. Marys, Wapakoneta and Lima. He was a member of the American Legion, Idlewild Men's Club and St. Paul's United Church of Christ, where he had served on the consistory, all in St. Marys. He graduated in 1944 from Sidney High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. Ed Bray officiating. Private family burial rites will follow.
Calling is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys.
