The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory for the entire state of Ohio as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to adversely impact air quality.
Pollutants across the state are expected to range from the 'Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups' category in the southwest part of the state to the 'Unhealthy' category in the rest of the state. Hourly concentrations at times may reach the 'Very Unhealthy' to 'Hazardous' categories.
It is recommended, when possible, to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory conditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in the nose, throat, and eyes.

Lawrence Poeppelman
Former Maria Stein resident Lawrence Frank Poeppelman, 91, of Don Desch Drive, Coldwater, died at 11:10 p.m. Jan. 30, 2010, at Briarwood Village, Coldwater.
He was born Feb. 24, 1918, in Yorkshire, to John T. and Elizabeth Bornhorst Poeppelman. On July 8, 1941, he married "Sadie" Mercedes MaryAnn Luttmer, who survives.
Other survivors are two daughters-in-law, Mary Lois Poeppelman, Yorkshire, and Nancy Poeppelman, Fort Loramie; two brothers, Paul Poeppelman, Fort Loramie, and Thomas (Mary Ann) Poeppelman, St. Henry; two sisters-in-law, Judy Poeppelman, Las Vegas, Nev., and Joann Poeppelman, Yorkshire; a brother-in-law, Alfred Borchers, Minster; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two sons, Myrle and Allen Poeppelman; three brothers, Alphonse, Martin and John Poeppelman; two sisters, Adella Hoying and Sally Borchers; and a grandson.
He retired in 1984 from poultry and mink farming and was a Marion Local Schools bus driver for 22 years. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Maria Stein, and its Men's Sodality.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church, the Rev. Ken Alt officiating. Burial is at the church cemetery.
Calling is 3-8 p.m. Wednesday and 9-9:45 a.m. Thursday at Gehret Funeral Home, Fort Loramie.
