The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory for the entire state of Ohio as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to adversely impact air quality.
Pollutants across the state are expected to range from the 'Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups' category in the southwest part of the state to the 'Unhealthy' category in the rest of the state. Hourly concentrations at times may reach the 'Very Unhealthy' to 'Hazardous' categories.
It is recommended, when possible, to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory conditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in the nose, throat, and eyes.

Richard Borchers
Richard (Dick)Borchers, 86, Newport, died at 12:45 p.m. April 25, 2010, at his home.
He was born March 11, 1924, in Shelby County, to Frank J. and Emma F. Boerger Borchers. On Sept. 11, 1948, he married Martha V. Bornhorst, who survives.
Also surviving are four sons, Bob (Barb) Borchers, Oran, Ron (Kay) Borchers, Russia, Roger (Jan) Borchers, Russia, and Dale (Marty) Borchers, Wapakoneta, four daughters, Deb (Steve) Standiford, Cincinnati, Barb (Brian) Condon, Versailles, Jan (Mike) Bruns, Tipp City, and Linda (Andy) Meyer, Russia; four brothers, Orville and Jim Borchers, both of Versailles, Al Borchers, Fairborn, and Cyril Borchers, Kettering; two sisters, Mary Ann Meyer, Coldwater, and Norma Reardon, Middletown; 28 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a son, Bob Borchers, and a grandson, Nathan Condon; three brothers, Urb, Paul and Ken Borchers, and three sisters, Frieda Monnin, Hilda York and Betty Hibner.
He worked at Frigidaire in Dayton and the Stolle Corporation in Sidney for 33 years, and farmed part time until his retirement in 1989. He also assisted his father in farming. He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Newport, where he was active in the choir and various church maintenance projects. He was also a member of the Russia Knights of Columbus and volunteered at Wilson Memorial Hospital in Sidney.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church, the Rev. Steven Shoup officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Calling is 2-8p.m. Sunday and 9-10 a.m. Monday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Russia.
