The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory for the entire state of Ohio as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to adversely impact air quality.
Pollutants across the state are expected to range from the 'Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups' category in the southwest part of the state to the 'Unhealthy' category in the rest of the state. Hourly concentrations at times may reach the 'Very Unhealthy' to 'Hazardous' categories.
It is recommended, when possible, to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory conditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in the nose, throat, and eyes.

Jimmie Herfurth
Jimmie Dickson "Jim" Herfurth, 82, formerly of Spencerville, died at 8:17 a.m. Dec. 4, 2010, at St. Marys Living Center.   He was born July 1, 1928, in St. Johns to John H. and Mildred J. Dickson Herfurth. He was raised by his mother and stepfather, Earl D. Neuman Sr. On Nov. 19, 1949, he married Donna J. Gander, who died April 8, 2008.
Surviving are three children, Hal (Vi) Herfurth, Kaneohe, Oahu, Hawaii, Rex (Kathy) Herfurth, Alger, and Wendy Fox, Cincinnati; a daughter-in-law, Cindy Herfurth, Mendon; three sisters, Caroline Howell, Tampa, Fla., Mary Schrimp, Columbus, and Peggy Leis, Columbus; a sister-in-law, Louise Neuman, Wapakoneta; a brother-in-law, John Gander, Celina; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Deceased is a son, Kim Herfurth; four stepbrothers, Charles, Earl Jr., Delbert and Elgene Neuman; a stepsister, Anna Doner; a sister-in-law, Greta Wilcox; and an infant brother-in-law, William Tyler Gander.
He graduated from Central High School in Lima. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served in Japan during World War II. He then joined the Ohio National Guard and served as recruiter and clerk before retiring as a staff sergeant. He was a patrolman for the Spencerville Police and a member of the former Christie United Methodist Church, the Harry J. Reynolds American Legion Post 191 and the Bowersock Brothers Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6772, all of Spencerville.
Services are 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville. Burial with graveside military rites conducted by the Spencerville Veterans is at Willow Grove Cemetery northeast of New Bremen.
Calling is 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
