The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory for the entire state of Ohio as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to adversely impact air quality.
Pollutants across the state are expected to range from the 'Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups' category in the southwest part of the state to the 'Unhealthy' category in the rest of the state. Hourly concentrations at times may reach the 'Very Unhealthy' to 'Hazardous' categories.
It is recommended, when possible, to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory conditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in the nose, throat, and eyes.

Betty Vannette
Betty E. Vannette, 84, St. Marys, died at 11 p.m. Feb. 2, 2011, at her home.
She was born Feb. 9, 1926, in Berne, Ind., to Jesse and Velma Habegger Balsiger. On Feb. 22, 1946, she married Burton L. Vannette, who survives.
Also surviving are four children, Candy (Duane) Forlow, Celina, Dano (Bobbie) Vannette, Fort Wayne, Ind., Doug (Becky) Vannette, St. Marys, and Curt (Bei) Vannette, Lima; a sister, Annabelle (Wayne) Dubach, Geneva, Ind.; two brothers, Herman (Phyllis) Balsiger, Phoenix, Ariz., and George (Vera) Balsiger, Berne, Ind.; nine grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Deceased is an infant brother.
She was a 1944 graduate of Hartford High School in Indiana. She retired from Reynolds and Reynolds Corp in Celina. She and her husband were founders and operators of The Flower and Plant Barn in St. Marys. She was a member of Grace Missionary Church in Celina.
Funeral rites are 2 p.m. Monday at Miller Funeral Home in St. Marys, the Rev. Bruce Head officiating. Burial is at Mercer Memory Gardens in Celina.
Calling is noon-2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
