The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory for the entire state of Ohio as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to adversely impact air quality.
Pollutants across the state are expected to range from the 'Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups' category in the southwest part of the state to the 'Unhealthy' category in the rest of the state. Hourly concentrations at times may reach the 'Very Unhealthy' to 'Hazardous' categories.
It is recommended, when possible, to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory conditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in the nose, throat, and eyes.

James Baltes
James Leroy "Jimmy" Baltes, 86, Versailles, died at 11:20 a.m. Sept. 19, 2012, at Hospice of Cincinnati.
He was born June 18, 1926, in Versailles, to Leroy and Ella Frantz Baltes. On June 12, 1951, he married Dolores C. "Dorie" Siefring, who died Jan. 18, 2010.
Surviving are two daughters, Jayne Baltes, Greenville, and Holly (Nick) Keiser, Versailles; a son-in-law, Dennis Hemmelgarn, Burkettsville; a brother, Earl (Berneice) Baltes, Rossburg; two sisters, Bertha Siegrist, Celina, and Susie Barga, Versailles; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a daughter, Kathy Hemmelgarn; a brother, Ralph Baltes; and two sisters, Zelma Fenner and Rita Condon.
He and his wife owned the former Baltes Restaurant, Frenchtown, for 37 years. He also was a drummer in the Jimmy Baltes Band for 65 years. He was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church, Versailles, the Knights of Columbus of the church, Versailles Fraternal Order of Eagles, Greenville Elks Lodge, Musicians Union and the Versailles Vet's Club.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church, the Rev. David Vincent officiating. Burial is at St. Valbert Cemetery, Versailles.
Calling is 1-5 p.m. Sunday and 9-10 a.m. Monday at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home, Versailles.
