Ida Boeckman
Ida O. Boeckman, 77, Dayton, passed away unexpectedly at 12:30 p.m. March 18, 2013, at her home.
She was born Sept. 8, 1935, in Allen Township to Ferdinand "Ferd" and Leona Knapke Heuing.
She is survived and will be missed by her loving children, sons, Ron (Patty) Boeckman of Englewood and Jeff (Charlene) Boeckman of Clayton; daughters, Pam Boeckman and Shelly Boeckman, both of Dayton; sister Margie Fleck; sister-in-law Kathleen "Toots" Heuing; and brother-in-law, Harold "Hans" Borgerding. She was blessed with, and loved, her six grandchildren, David, Christopher, Courtney, Tony, Caroline and Garrett, and two great-grandchildren, Conner and Emma. She also enjoyed the love of many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends too numerous to mention.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerome; brother, Melvin "Bud"; sisters Mary Ann (John) Leopard, Alice (Robert) Leopard, Dorothy (Carl) Tobe, Edna (Gene) Koester, Norma (Myron) Huber and Jean; and brother-in-law, Lester Fleck.
She was a faith-filled person who was active in church life over the years, specifically the pantry services for Assumption/Our Lady of Mercy parishes. She served this ministry for nearly 30 years, and through this activity formed a group of very close friends. Along with her faith, she had immense inner strength and showed this by defeating a bout of cancer several years ago.
She was an avid Bingo player, and you wanted to stay out of her way when she had Bingo blotters in her hands. She enjoyed keeping her mind busy by doing crossword fill-in puzzles, which her husband Jerry referred to as her homework. She carried on a Heuing tradition by gathering each November with family members to make Christmas candy, especially her famous buckeyes. Her loved ones find comfort in knowing that Ida is not only in the arms of our Lord but also back in the arms of her husband Jerry, who went home a short 51 days ago.
Calling is 3-7 p.m. Sunday at Baker-Hazel & Snider Funeral Home, Dayton, and 9:30-10 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, Dayton.
Mass of Christian Burial is 10 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Mercy Church. Burial will follow the Mass at Forest Hills Cemetery, Tipp City.
Memorials may be given to Our Lady of Mercy Food Pantry or the American Cancer Society, Dayton.
Condolences may be left at www.bakerhazelsnider.com.
