The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory for the entire state of Ohio as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to adversely impact air quality.
Pollutants across the state are expected to range from the 'Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups' category in the southwest part of the state to the 'Unhealthy' category in the rest of the state. Hourly concentrations at times may reach the 'Very Unhealthy' to 'Hazardous' categories.
It is recommended, when possible, to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory conditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in the nose, throat, and eyes.

Harold Hesse
Harold E. Hesse, 89, Spencerville, died at 10:50 a.m. May 23, 2013, at the Van Wert Community Hospice Center, with his son and daughter at his side.
He was born Nov. 21, 1923, in Mendon, the son of Ralph Ernest and Ethel Mae Shank Hesse, who both are deceased. He was previously married to Verna M. Rasberry, who lives in St. Marys. On April 23, 1977, he married Vivian Kay Grear, who died June 24, 2008.
Surviving are four children, Cheri Lynn Hesse of Mendon, David H. (Lois) Hesse of Riverside, Calif., Karen Sue (Jeff) Getman of Hamilton, Mont. and J. Allen (Sandy) Hesse of Mendon; five grandchildren, Jenny Hesse of California, Amanda, Brittany, and Stephany Hesse, all of Mendon, and Christine Dixon of California; and a great-granddaughter, Chloe Dixon.
His six-year-old son, Steven Glenn Hesse, died Aug. 30, 1968.
He was a veteran of WWII, having served five years, three of which were in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. He was a member of the Bowersock Bros. VFW Post 6772 and the Harry J. Reynolds American Legion Post 191, both of Spencerville. He had worked at Huffy Corp. in Celina and later worked as parts man for 19 years at Amco New Idea Corp. in Coldwater, retiring Feb. 1, 1984.
Services are 7 p.m. Sunday in the Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home, Spencerville, the Rev. John G. Medaugh officiating. Military rites by Spencerville Veterans will follow, and burial is set for a later date at Spencerville Cemetery.
Calling is 4 p.m. until service time Sunday at the funeral home.
The family requests memorials be given to the aforementioned VFW or American Legion Posts, or to Van Wert Hospice.
