The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory for the entire state of Ohio as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to adversely impact air quality.
Pollutants across the state are expected to range from the 'Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups' category in the southwest part of the state to the 'Unhealthy' category in the rest of the state. Hourly concentrations at times may reach the 'Very Unhealthy' to 'Hazardous' categories.
It is recommended, when possible, to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory conditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in the nose, throat, and eyes.

Robert J. Meyer
Robert J. Meyer, 89, Botkins, passed away at 6:15 a.m. Aug. 30, 2013, at his home.
He was born on April 27, 1924, in Minster, to Frank and Mary (Schmitmeyer) Meyer. On Feb. 8, 1947, he married Florentine C. Eyink, who survives in Botkins.
Other survivors are his children, Ron (Diane) Meyer, Botkins, Shirley (Nick) Baldwin, Cleveland, Dan (Dawn) Meyer, Botkins, Mary Lou (Lee) Pitts, Botkins, Lucy Meyer, San Diego, Calif., Pat (Anna)Meyer, Botkins, Robert A. "Bobby" (Sharon) Meyer, Botkins; 24 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren with two more on the way; brothers and sisters, Roman (Mary) Meyer, Coldwater, Urban (Eileen) Meyer, Minster, Marie Huelsman, St. Henry, Rita (Stan) Wuebker, Minster, Dolores Vollmer, Wyoming, and Jeanne Kempfer, Minster; a brother-in-law, Eugene (Peggy) Eyink, Arizona; sisters-in-law, Mary Etta Eyink, Celina, and Mary Ann Eyink, Cincinnati.
He was preceded in death by sisters, Vera (Lawrence)Schmiesing and Esther (Ralph) Frey; brothers-in-law, Ralph Huelsman, Bob Vollmer and Larry Kempfer; five brothers-in-law; and three sisters-in-law.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Botkins. He served during World War II in the Merchant Marines. He dedicated his life to the Botkins Community by being the caretaker of the Catholic Cemetery for 55 years. He was a charter member and past president of the Botkins Community Club, President of the P.T.A., a school board member and school board president for 12 years. He was also a member of the Miami Valley Dairy Board and president of the Shelby County Farm Bureau. He was a member of the Shelby County Right to Life and the American Legion. His life's work and love was farming, family and his Catholic faith. He spent his leisure time fishing, playing cards, reading, traveling, bar tending and being an arm chair stockbroker.
Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. Pat Sloneker celebrant. Burial will be in Immaculate Conception Cemetery.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Tuesday and 9-10 a.m. Wednesday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster.
Memorials donations may be made to Shelby County Right to Life, Immaculate Conception Church Cemetery and the Botkins Young Farmers Scholarship Fund.
