The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory for the entire state of Ohio as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to adversely impact air quality.
Pollutants across the state are expected to range from the 'Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups' category in the southwest part of the state to the 'Unhealthy' category in the rest of the state. Hourly concentrations at times may reach the 'Very Unhealthy' to 'Hazardous' categories.
It is recommended, when possible, to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory conditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in the nose, throat, and eyes.

Joseph Schmitmeyer
Joseph L. Schmitmeyer, 58, state Route 242, Versailles, died at 3:45 p.m. Oct. 25, 2013, at his home.
He was born March 24, 1955, in Coldwater, to Ernest and Alma (Dirksen) Schmitmeyer. His mother survives in Cranberry Prairie.
On Feb. 17, 1979, he married Linda Siefring at St. Bernard Catholic Church, Burkettsville. She survives.
Also surviving are her children: Aaron (Sara) Schmitmeyer, Russia; Matt (Liz) Schmitmeyer, Versailles, Ben (Mallory) Schmitmeyer, Versailles, Ryan (Krista) Schmitmeyer, Versailles, and Andrea Schmitmeyer, Versailles; 12 grandchildren; brothers and sisters, John (Marlene) Schmitmeyer, Versailles, Pat (Cathy) Schmitmeyer, Montezuma, Bob (MaryLou) Schmitmeyer, Cranberry Prairie, Marilyn (Ron) Poeppelman, Fort Loramie, Ann (Paul) Barhorst, Anna; Lois (Dave) Schwieterman, Montezuma, Jean (John) Homan, New Bremen, Linda (Kevin) Muhlenkamp, Trinity, Ind., and Steve (Karen) Schmitmeyer, Cranberry Prairie; his mother-in-law, Romilda Siefring, St. Henry; in-laws, Delores (Robert) Lenartz, Vandalia, Mary Jean (Paul) Meyer, Versailles, Art (Eileen) Siefring, Burkettsville, Eileen (Larry) Dues, St. Henry, Janice (Denny) Rindler, St. Henry, and Deb (Roger) Homan, Montezuma.
He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Cyril Siefring; a sister, Lucy; and a brother-in-law, Richard Siefring.
He was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church, Versailles, and the Knights of Columbus, Versailles. He was a lifelong farmer.
Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Denis Catholic Church, the Rev. Jim Simons celebrant. Burial will be in St. Valbert Cemetery, Versailles.
Calling is 2-8 Tuesday and 9-10 a.m. Wednesday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Russia.
Memorial contributions may be made to State of the Heart Hospice and Darke County Right To Life.
