The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory for the entire state of Ohio as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to adversely impact air quality.
Pollutants across the state are expected to range from the 'Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups' category in the southwest part of the state to the 'Unhealthy' category in the rest of the state. Hourly concentrations at times may reach the 'Very Unhealthy' to 'Hazardous' categories.
It is recommended, when possible, to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory conditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in the nose, throat, and eyes.

Ruth Joan Hasis
Ruth Joan Hasis, 82, formerly of Mendon, died Oct. 15, 2013, at Levine-Dickson Hospice House, Charlotte, N.C.
She was born Feb. 16, 1931, in York Township, Van Wert County, to Waldo and Ella Mae (Book) Thomas. She married John Frederick Hasis, who died in 2011.
She was previously married to Robert Fought, of Delphos, who also preceded her in death.
Surviving are sons, Steve Fought, Toledo, Bradley (Pam) Hasis, Port St. Lucie, Fla., and Jeff Hasis, Van Wert; a daughter, Cathy (Dr. Michael) Ruhlen, Charlotte, N.C.; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three brothers, Jim (Jean) Thomas, Rockford, Carl (Mary) Thomas, Columbus, and Wayne (Connie) Thomas, Bowling Green; two sisters, Eunice (Glen) Richardson and Lois Joseph, both of Lima.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Jeanette Hellwarth and Betty Simpson.
She graduated from Mendon-Union High School and earned her bachelor's degree in education from Ohio Northern University. She taught elementary school for 30 years, including at Mendon-Union, Lincolnview, St. Marys and Celina. She was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church and loved reading, gardening and birdwatching.
Services will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at Cisco Funeral Home, Celina, the Rev. Kenneth Baker officiating. Burial will be in Tomlinson Cemetery, Rockford.
Calling is 9-11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, Celina; the Mendon United Methodist Church, Mendon; or to Hospice and Palliative Care, Charlotte Region.
