The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory for the entire state of Ohio as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to adversely impact air quality.
Pollutants across the state are expected to range from the 'Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups' category in the southwest part of the state to the 'Unhealthy' category in the rest of the state. Hourly concentrations at times may reach the 'Very Unhealthy' to 'Hazardous' categories.
It is recommended, when possible, to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory conditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in the nose, throat, and eyes.

Ralph Smith Jr.
Ralph W. Smith Jr., 83, St. Marys, died Feb. 7, 2014, at Kindred Hospital in Lima.
He was born Sept. 10, 1931, in Neptune, to Ralph and Nora Rutledge Smith Sr. On Aug. 20, 1982, he married Betty J. Jones in Wapakoneta, and she survives.
Also surviving are daughters, Elaine (Ron) Hoskins, Findlay, and Karen (Tim) Klosterman, Celina; a son, Dave (Diane) Smith, Celina; two stepdaughters, Lori (Kent) Taylor, Celina, and Claudia Emrick, Lima; two stepsons, Scott Emrick, St. Marys, Johno Emrick, Chillicothe; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; numerous step-great-grandchildren; a sister, Margie (Merle) Brookhart, Celina; and a brother, Joe Smith, of Ladysmith, Wisc.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He was a 1950 graduate of Rockford High School and attended Ohio Northern University. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, having served as a radio operator in the 3rd Strategic Support Squadron during the Korean Conflict.
He was a retired production employee from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., St. Marys. He was a member of American Legion Post #323 and Auglaize County Buzzard Baiters. His favorite pastimes included flying radio-controlled airplanes and riding his motorcycle in the sunshine.
Funeral services are 2 p.m. Saturday at Miller Funeral Home West Chapel, St. Marys, the Rev. Randy Christian officiating. Military honors will follow the service at the funeral home.
