The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory for the entire state of Ohio as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to adversely impact air quality.
Pollutants across the state are expected to range from the 'Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups' category in the southwest part of the state to the 'Unhealthy' category in the rest of the state. Hourly concentrations at times may reach the 'Very Unhealthy' to 'Hazardous' categories.
It is recommended, when possible, to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory conditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in the nose, throat, and eyes.

Joan Heckman
Joan C. Heckman, 92, formerly of Minster, died at 3:15 p.m. Feb. 27, 2014, at Mercer County Community Hospital, Coldwater.
She was born May 30, 1921, in Wapakoneta to the late Anthony and Cora Fisher Heinl. She married Robert J. Heckman on June 15, 1943, in Minster, and he preceded her in death on April 14, 2000.
Surviving are children, Linda (Jimmy) Eddins, Gulf Breeze, Fla., Jeff (Anne) Heckman, New Bremen, Angie (Tom) Niemeyer, Minster, and Ted (Carol) Heckman, Minster; 13 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Alice Kuehner, Minster, and Barb (Denny) Meyer, Minster; and a brother, Larry Heinl, Minster.
Deceased are a daughter-in-law, Galdie Heckman; a great-grandchild; and brothers and sisters, Fr. David Heinl, Mary Heinl, Charlie Heinl and Hilda Morsey.
She was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Minster, a former member of the folk group, a former Girl Scout leader and loved to snow ski and golf.
Funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Monday at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Minster, Fr. Rick Nieberding officiating. Burial is at St. Augustine Cemetery.
Calling is 1-5 p.m. Sunday and 9-9:30 a.m. on Monday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster.
