The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory for the entire state of Ohio as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to adversely impact air quality.
Pollutants across the state are expected to range from the 'Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups' category in the southwest part of the state to the 'Unhealthy' category in the rest of the state. Hourly concentrations at times may reach the 'Very Unhealthy' to 'Hazardous' categories.
It is recommended, when possible, to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory conditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in the nose, throat, and eyes.

Maurice Taylor
Maurice Calvert Taylor, 86, Ohio City, died at 8:44 p.m. April 29, 2014, at CHP Inpatient Hospice Center, Van Wert.
He was born Jan. 18, 1928, in Ohio City, to Cecil Calvert Taylor and Florence Lillian Shindeldecker Taylor. On Jan. 1, 1950, he married Shirley Ann Scarpelli at First Baptist Church, and she survives.
Also surviving are children, Keith E. Taylor, Ohio City, and Gina K. (Larry) Subler, Ohio City; a brother, Gaylord L. Taylor, Van Wert; grandchildren, Amanda (Michael) Decker, Stacey Subler and Erica (James) Roehm; and two great-grandchildren, Addison Roehm and Makayla Decker.
A sister, Coral Evelyn Marbaugh, preceded him in death on April 4, 2014.
He had worked on the railroad, at Bordens Foods, the A & P Grocery, in construction and as a television repairman. He retired from Daimler-Chrysler on Jan. 12, 1990. He attended Olive Branch Church of God, where he taught Sunday School. He was a 1946 graduate of Ohio City Liberty High School and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force 1951-1955. He was a member of Academy of Model Aeronautics and Black Swamp Fliers and the Van Wert County Horseshoe Club, of which he was the 2004 County Champion. He enjoyed growing apples, making apple cider and cutting wood.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Cowan & Son Funeral Home, Van Wert, the Rev. Steven G. Waterman officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Ohio City.
Calling is 1-6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
