The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory for the entire state of Ohio as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to adversely impact air quality.
Pollutants across the state are expected to range from the 'Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups' category in the southwest part of the state to the 'Unhealthy' category in the rest of the state. Hourly concentrations at times may reach the 'Very Unhealthy' to 'Hazardous' categories.
It is recommended, when possible, to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory conditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in the nose, throat, and eyes.

Carl Harting
Carl L. Harting, 92, Philothea, died June 23, 2014, at his home.
He was born March 23, 1922, in Celina, to William and Anna Bertke Harting. On Dec. 28, 1957, he married Bertha J. Fortkamp, who died Oct. 12, 2009.
Surviving are a daughter, Ann (Galen) Harrod, Rossburg; a son, Carl Jr. (Mary Ann) Harting, Philothea; five grandchildren, Amanda (Marty) Schoenherr, Craig Harting, Brian Harrod, Beth Harrod and Kevin Harrod; a great-grandchild, Scarlet Schoenherr; five siblings, Roman Harting, Dayton, Richard Harting, Beavercreek, Maurice (Mary Ann) Harting, Coldwater, Ruth Luthman, St. Marys, and Sally Abele, Dayton; and three sisters-in-law, Rita Harting, Minster, Agnes Puthoff, St. Henry, and Jean Fortkamp, Coldwater.
Also deceased are four siblings, Eugene (Margaret) Harting, Paul Harting, Virginia Harting and Walter Harting; 10 brothers- and sisters-in-law, Mary Harting, Dorothea Harting, Lawrence Luthman, Tom Abele, Martha Mescher, Clara Schweickart, Joe Fortkamp, August Fortkamp, Carl Fortkamp and Linus Fortkamp.
He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Philothea, and its Men's Sodality. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II in the South Pacific. He retired to the farm after working at Frigidaire in Dayton.
Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mary Catholic Church, Philothea. Burial with military rites will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Calling is 3-8 p.m. Thursday and 9-10 a.m. Friday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater.
