Helen Gehm
Helen L. Gehm, 91, Rockford, died at 12:54 p.m. Sept. 1, 2014, at The Laurels of Shane Hill Nursing Home, Rockford.
She was born March 18, 1923, in Van Wert County, to Daniel and Rosetta Drury Shivley. On Jan. 12, 1946, she married Jerome Gehm, who died Sept. 18, 2003.
Surviving are two daughters, Rita (Rich) Werst, Celina, and Theresa Berry, Celina; a sister, Dorie Bollenbacher, Rockford; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Also deceased are three brothers, Edward Shivley, Cleo Shivley and Emmet Shivley; seven sisters, Elnora Mosier, Ethyel Johnson, Edith Hopkins, Ilo Steman, Zelma Rader, Omah Davis and Ruby Shivley; and a granddaughter.
She was a 1941 graduate of Ridge High School, Van Wert, and a homemaker, and was retired from Huffy. She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Rockford.
Services were today at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Rockford, the Rev. Catherine Costello officiated. Burial followed at United Church of Christ Cemetery, Rockford.
Memorials may be given to St. Paul's United Church of Christ.
