William Dorsten
William C. Dorsten, 82, St. Marys, died at 12:55 a.m. Nov. 26, 2014, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
He was born March 30, 1932, in St. Marys on the farm where he lived most of his life, to Matt and Ida Stuckenburg Dorsten.
On Aug. 4, 1956, in St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Glynwood, he married Janice Quellhorst, who survives at the residence.
Surviving are three children, Mark (Teresa) Dorsten, St. Marys, Amy (Dennis) Braun, Weekiwachee, Fla., Kim (Tom) Dymond, Crystal River, Fla.; three grandchildren, Robert Dorsten, Tony Pellican and Kera Dorsten; and a sister, Vera Dingledine, St. Marys.
Also deceased are his parents; a daughter, Rene M. Dorsten; and siblings, Mildred Holtman, Leroy Dorsten, Paul "Pete" Dorsten, Virgilene Rich and Tony Dorsten.
He was a 1950 graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School. He served in the U.S. Army and was a lifelong farmer, still working until shortly before his death. He was a member of American Legion Post 323 and Eagles Lodge 767 in St. Marys. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in St. Marys, and the Knights of Columbus.  He took pleasure in traveling in his motorhome to wherever it would take him. Sowing seeds and watching them grow until harvest were his passion. He was a jack of all trades and a compassionate husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, friend and neighbor. He loved life and the Lord. His dry sense of humor will be missed by all.
Funeral Mass is 11 a.m. Monday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, St. Marys, the Rev. Barry Stechschulte officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the Miller-Long and Folk Funeral Home, St. Marys.
Memorial gifts may be given to a charity of the donor's choice.
Condolences may be left at www.millerfuneralhomes.net.
