Two vehicles - a box truck and a car - show heavy damage after a three-vehicle crash near the intersection of state Route 118 and Fort Recovery-Minster Road on Monday morning. Two of the drivers were transported to Mercer County Community Hospital, Coldwater, for minor injuries. According to the Mercer County Sheriff's Office report, the driver of the 2007 box truck, Robert E. Austerman, 51, Union City, was traveling south on state Route 118 just before 9 a.m. when Joan H. Post, 82, St. Henry, driving a 2009 Honda east, failed to stop at the stop sign. Austerman's truck was forced into the northbound lane where it struck a 1997 dump truck driven by Helmut C. Hagel, 54, Celina, who was traveling north. All three vehicles sustained heavy, disabling damage and were towed from the scene. Hagel and Post were transported to the hospital; no condition information was available. No citations were listed on the report.
