The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory for the entire state of Ohio as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to adversely impact air quality.
Pollutants across the state are expected to range from the 'Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups' category in the southwest part of the state to the 'Unhealthy' category in the rest of the state. Hourly concentrations at times may reach the 'Very Unhealthy' to 'Hazardous' categories.
It is recommended, when possible, to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory conditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in the nose, throat, and eyes.

Janet O'Neill
Janet Louise (Shaffer) O'Neill, 73, of rural Middle Point, went home to be with her Lord and Savior at 2:09 p.m., Monday, at the Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center.
She was born on July 24, 1941, near Rockford, the daughter of the late Hoyt and Edith (Whittenbarger) Shaffer. On November 18, 1961, she married T. James O'Neill who survives.
Family members include her three children, Kevin (Connie) O'Neill of New Bremen, Cheryl (Shawn) Klinker of Van Wert, and Brian (Jody) O'Neill of Rockford; a sister, Dorothy Christian of Lexington, KY; a sister-in-law, Shirley Shaffer of Decatur, IN; a brother-in-law, Patrick O'Neill and his wife Phyllis of Mendon; and nine grandchildren: Logan (Becky), Shelby (Adam), Adam, and Jacob O'Neill, Kyle (Jen), Allison and Gretchen Klinker, and Nathan and Elaina O'Neill.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Lowell Shaffer; a brother-in-law, Bill Christian; and her mother and father-in-law, Merle and Ann Townsend.
Janet was a 1959 graduate of Mendon Union High School. She worked at Celina Insurance Group, Bob Hahn Insurance Agency in Spencerville, and Stewart House of Spice in Wetzel. She was a homemaker and a loving mother and grandmother. Janet was active in the Wetzel Ladies Bible Study.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 28, 2015, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home with John A. Rager officiating. Interment will follow at Ridge Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday 2 - 8 p.m.
Preferred memorials are to the Van Wert County Brumback Library.
