The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory for the entire state of Ohio as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to adversely impact air quality.
Pollutants across the state are expected to range from the 'Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups' category in the southwest part of the state to the 'Unhealthy' category in the rest of the state. Hourly concentrations at times may reach the 'Very Unhealthy' to 'Hazardous' categories.
It is recommended, when possible, to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory conditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in the nose, throat, and eyes.

Verdella Giere
Verdella K. Giere age 83 of Minster died Saturday, April 2, 2016 at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton, Ohio.
She was born on December 31, 1932 in McCartyville, Ohio to the late Edward & Justina (Meyer) Schmitmeyer. On June 18, 1955 she married Alyos H. "Henry" Giere. He preceded her in death on January 24, 1986.
She is survived by a daughter Susan & Daniel Wehrman, Egypt, Ohio, grandchildren Adam, Rachel and Gabrielle, brother Melvin & Jan Schmitmeyer, Florida, in-laws Ed & Jeanette Giere, Maria Stein & Sharon Giere, Florida.
She was preceded in death by 4 sister-in-laws & 2 brother-in-laws.
She was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Minster and Minster F.O.E. #1391.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, April 8, 2016 at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Minster with Rev. Rick Nieberding, celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Augustine Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home-Minster on Thursday, April 7, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and on Friday from 9:00 AM to 9:30 AM.
