The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory for the entire state of Ohio as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to adversely impact air quality. Pollutants across the state are expected to range from the 'Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups' category in the southwest part of the state to the 'Unhealthy' category in the rest of the state. Hourly concentrations at times may reach the 'Very Unhealthy' to 'Hazardous' categories. It is recommended, when possible, to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory conditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in the nose, throat, and eyes. Celina councilman leads drive for creating position

CELINA - As most big companies have a human resources person, so too should a city boasting a $50 million budget, city councilman Jeff Larmore argued this week.
Larmore led the charge at a personnel and finance committee meeting at which city officials revisited a long-dormant discussion of adding a human resources position to the city's administration. They'll reconvene for another round of talks at 6 p.m. Monday in council chambers on the second floor of the city administration building. [More]
MENDON - Fire gutted a mobile home, displacing a resident, on Deep Cut Road east of Coil Road on Thursday afternoon.
The fire started in the north wall of the residence, according to Mendon Fire Chief Darrell Etgen, but the exact cause of the blaze remains under investigation. Etgen estimated the damage at between $7,500 and $8,000. [More]
