Big rig coming through
Photo by Mark Pummell/The Daily Standard

Turning from North Main Street onto East Market Street in downtown Celina, a Perkins Specialized Transportation Contracting vehicle travels through town to deliver a 489,000-pound, 126-foot-long, 21-foot-wide megaload containing a boiler to Pratt Industries in Wapakoneta. Perkins SPT Project Coordinator Darin Stanley said the delivery started on July 9 in Abilene, Texas. Wapakoneta Area Economic Development Council Director Greg Myers said the boiler will serve a dual purpose of helping make the company's paper products while also heating the building. Ohio State Highway Patrol Van Wert Post Lt. Jonathon Gray said troopers provided an escort as the delivery traveled along U.S. 33 to U.S. 127 to State Route 29 on its way to Pratt Industries at 2860 County Road 25A. The federal weight limit for a standard load is 80,000 pounds and the standard length of commercial semitrailer including the load is 53 feet.
