The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory for the entire state of Ohio as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to adversely impact air quality.
Pollutants across the state are expected to range from the 'Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups' category in the southwest part of the state to the 'Unhealthy' category in the rest of the state. Hourly concentrations at times may reach the 'Very Unhealthy' to 'Hazardous' categories.
It is recommended, when possible, to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory conditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in the nose, throat, and eyes.

Betty Lou Bowman
Betty Lou Bowman, age 83, passed away August 17, 2018, at Miller Place in Celina.
  Born May 12, 1935 in Danville, IL, she was the daughter of the late George Lawson and Veda (Babb) Lawson Armstrong.
  Betty married Edgar Bowman on August 19, 1978, and he preceded her in death September 25, 2005.
  Surviving are three children: John (Cheryl) Arnold of Minonk, IL, Darrell (Elaine) Arnold of Bloomington, IL, and Barb (Tony) Brazle of Mendon, OH; as well as seven grandchildren: Amy (Chris), Aubrey (Curt), Jeremiah (Brandy), Ian, Zander, Brenna, and Chris; ten great-grandchildren: Tyler (Ashley), Samantha, Tommie, Hannah, Hailee, Hunter, Gage, Kimber, Dallas, and Bailey; and a brother, Robert (Marlene) Lawson of Decatur, IL.
  A daughter, Roberta Lawson, was stillborn.
  Betty was proud to have earned her GED. She had worked as a waitress and factory worker, and as a food preparation aide for Meals on Wheels while living in Illinois.
She had been a member of the Red Hat Society and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Illinois, then joined Bowersock Brothers VFW Post #6772 in Spencerville. She enjoyed painting, reading, and collecting frog figurines.
  A celebration of Betty's life will be held from 1:00-3:00 P.M. on Sunday, September 9, at the Rockford United Methodist Church in Rockford, OH.
  Memorial Donations may be directed to: the Alzheimer's Association or the Cancer Association of Mercer County.
