The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory for the entire state of Ohio as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to adversely impact air quality.
Pollutants across the state are expected to range from the 'Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups' category in the southwest part of the state to the 'Unhealthy' category in the rest of the state. Hourly concentrations at times may reach the 'Very Unhealthy' to 'Hazardous' categories.
It is recommended, when possible, to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory conditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in the nose, throat, and eyes.

Gene Rhoades
Gene E. Rhoades, 95, of St. Marys, OH died 5:35 a.m. Tuesday October 30, 2018 at Otterbein - St. Marys, OH.
He was born November 1, 1922 in Wapakoneta, OH to Glenn and Gladys (Keiber) Rhoades. On November 27, 1952 he married La Vera King, who died August 12, 1995. He then married Carolyn "Sis" (White) Irons, who survives.
Also survived by: step-daughter Susan (Greg) McDaniel of Ocala, FL; step-son William Steven (Kim) Irons of St. Marys, OH; step-son David (Carol) Irons of St. Marys, OH; step-son Andrew (Jennifer) Irons of Lancaster, PA; 8 step-grandchildren; 3 step-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by: parents Glenn and Gladys Rhoades; first wife La Vera Rhoades; twin brother Dean Rhoades; brother Charles Rhoades; brother Vernon Rhoades.
He was a graduate of Blume High School (Class of 1940) in Wapakoneta. He retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. in St. Marys, where he worked 43 years in the accounting department. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and K of C Council # 1592, both in St. Marys.
Following his retirement, he used his accounting skills to help others in need. He performed volunteer tax preparation for senior citizens and low-income individuals throughout Auglaize and Mercer Counties for many years.
He was honored to have been selected as 1992 Mercer Co. Council on Aging Outstanding Senior Volunteer, 1999 Auglaize Co. Council on Aging Outstanding Volunteer, 2000 Medical Mutual of Ohio Outstanding Volunteer, 2002 Auglaize Co. Council on Aging Outstanding Senior Citizen of the Year and recipient of the 2007 "Builder of Bridges Award" by the St. Marys Area Chamber of Commerce.
Gene will be remembered as a true gentleman, with an eye for detail. He will be truly missed by those fortunate to know him as a loyal friend or co-worker.
Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled to begin 11:00 a.m. Friday November 2, 2018 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, with the Rev. Barry Stechschulte, celebrant. Burial will follow at the St. Joseph Cemetery in Wapakoneta.
Visitation 6-8 p.m. Thursday and 9:30-10:30 a.m. Friday at Miller-Long & Folk Funeral Home (314 W. High Street Chapel) in St. Marys.
Memorial contributions may be directed to either Holy Rosary Catholic Church or Otterbein - St. Marys.
