The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory for the entire state of Ohio as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to adversely impact air quality.
Pollutants across the state are expected to range from the 'Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups' category in the southwest part of the state to the 'Unhealthy' category in the rest of the state. Hourly concentrations at times may reach the 'Very Unhealthy' to 'Hazardous' categories.
It is recommended, when possible, to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory conditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in the nose, throat, and eyes.

Thomas M. Goettemoeller
Thomas M. Goettemoeller age 82, of St. Rose, Ohio died on Sunday January 17, 2021 at his home. He was born on February 15, 1938 in St. Rose, Ohio to the late Lawrence & Loretta (Wolfe) Goettemoeller. He married Irene E. Mueller on May 28, 1960 in St. Rose, Ohio and she preceded him in death on November 29, 2014.
He is survived by children Tim & Lisa Goettemoeller, Maria Stein, Lori & Roger Edsinger, Columbus, Sherri & Craig Reed, Versailles, 7 grandchildren: Kellen, Jacy Goettemoeller, Danielle & Brian Peifer, Eric & Laura Edsinger, Jacob & Devyn Edsinger, Baleigh & Mitchell Harshbarger & Conner Reed, 3 great grandchildren: Savannah Peifer, Elliot Edsinger, Theodore Edsinger, brothers: Bob Goettemoeller, Columbus, Jim & Carole Goettemoeller, Denton, MT, Jack & Betty Goettemoeller, Colorado Springs, CO, Dale & Agnes Goettemoeller, St. Rose, in-laws: Doris Goettemoeller, Versailles, Dick & Ann Mueller, New Bremen, JoAnn Stueve, Minster, Mary Mueller, Grifton, NC, Thelma Mueller, Coldwater.
He was preceded in death by grandson Jordan Goettemoeller, brother Bill Goettemoeller, sister-in-law Bernice Goettemoeller, brothers-in-law John Mueller, Ed Mueller, and Ben Stueve.
He was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church, Maria Stein, and the Men's Sodality of the church. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Minster, Marion Local Athletic Boosters and a 1956 graduate of Marion Local High School.
Tom was a longtime softball player and avid fan of the Marion Local Flyers, the Ohio State Buckeyes, and the Cleveland Browns. He enjoyed woodworking and gardening, but especially loved spending time with his family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM on Saturday, January 23, 2021 at St. Rose Catholic Church, on St. Rt. 119 Maria Stein. Burial will take place in St. Rose Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, January 22, 2021 and from 9:00 to 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 23. The family requests that all visitors to follow CDC guidelines.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Mercer County Council on Aging.
