The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory for the entire state of Ohio as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to adversely impact air quality.
Pollutants across the state are expected to range from the 'Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups' category in the southwest part of the state to the 'Unhealthy' category in the rest of the state. Hourly concentrations at times may reach the 'Very Unhealthy' to 'Hazardous' categories.
It is recommended, when possible, to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory conditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in the nose, throat, and eyes.

Alan Mescher
Alan L. Mescher, age 55 of Osgood, passed away on Monday, June 28, 2021 at Mercer Health Hospital, Coldwater.
He was born on February 11, 1966 in Coldwater to the late Thomas A. & Jeanette M. (Unrast) Mescher. On February 13, 2010 he married Marcia (Pleiman / Eilerman) and she survives in Yorkshire.
Alan is survived by children: Nichole & Derek Schmitz of Kettering, Shawn & Andrea Eilerman of Maria Stein, and Mitchell Eilerman of Versailles, and five grandchildren, Noah, Riley, Grayson, Haisely, and Kendyl. He is also survived by siblings and in-laws: Jeff Mescher of New Bremen, Roy & Angela Mescher of Maria Stein, Sam & Kathleen Mescher of Montezuma, Ted & Sara Mescher, Jane & Doug Meyer, and Brian & Michelle Mescher all of Maria Stein, his father and mother-in-law, Neal & Mary Jean Pleiman of Osgood, Angie & Marty Brown of St. Marys, Patti & Jon Thobe of Maria Stein, and Cindy Pleiman of Osgood.
  In addition to his parents, Alan is preceded in death by a brother-in-law Michael Pleiman.
  Alan was a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Osgood, and the St. Nicholas Men's Sodality. He was employed at Tuente Trucking, and previously at Rethman Brothers. Alan was a member of the Sons of the American Legion in Maria Stein. He was very active on the Maria Stein Country Fest Committee and was a member of the famous Country Fest Tractor Square Dancers. Alan enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest, he was very social and will be remembered by his smiling face.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 1, 2021 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Osgood. A private family burial in St. Martin Cemetery will take place at a later date.
Friends may call from 2:00 until 8:00 pm Wednesday June 30, 2021 and 9:00 until 9:45 am Thursday at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in St. Henry.
