Mercer County Sheriff's deputies responded to a two-vehicle injury accident at the intersection of state routes 707 and 49 around 6:30 p.m. Friday. Mercer County Sheriff's Sergeant Rachel Heinl said Chesala Durnal, Indiana, was traveling westbound on State Route 707 and stopped her vehicle at the stop sign at State Route 49. Durnal then drove her vehicle into the intersection where it struck a northbound vehicle driven by Vickie Poe. Poe was transported by a Rockford unit of the Mercer County Emergency Medical Service to Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, Indiana, with non-life threatening injuries, Heinl said. Durnal was cited for failure to yield. Heinl said drugs or alcohol were not suspected in the accident. Also assisting at the scene were the Chattanooga Fire Department, Ohio State Highway Patrol and Mercer County Emergency Response Volunteers.
