The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory for the entire state of Ohio as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to adversely impact air quality.
Pollutants across the state are expected to range from the 'Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups' category in the southwest part of the state to the 'Unhealthy' category in the rest of the state. Hourly concentrations at times may reach the 'Very Unhealthy' to 'Hazardous' categories.
It is recommended, when possible, to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory conditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in the nose, throat, and eyes.

Business park planned in Rockford

ROCKFORD - A 51.5-acre business park may become part of the village.
Village council members on Tuesday night passed an emergency ordinance to authorize an agreement between Rockford and Dublin Township to annex the acreage into the village.
TWT Farms, Rockford, which owns the acreage, requested the annexation, village fiscal officer Lisa Kuhn said. [More]

MINSTER - School board members on Monday night learned four candidates will be interviewed for the district superintendent's position during the next two weeks, according to school board president Trina Nixon.
MINSTER - Councilors were informed many lifeguard positions remain unfilled with the opening of the village pool less than two months away.
Village administrator Don Harrod told council members at their regular meeting Tuesday that only 15 of the 30-40 lifeguard positions have been filled.
Mercer County's unemployment rate improved in March to 2.7%, down from February's rate of 3%.
