The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory for the entire state of Ohio as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to adversely impact air quality.
Pollutants across the state are expected to range from the 'Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups' category in the southwest part of the state to the 'Unhealthy' category in the rest of the state. Hourly concentrations at times may reach the 'Very Unhealthy' to 'Hazardous' categories.
It is recommended, when possible, to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory conditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in the nose, throat, and eyes.

Jeanette Barhorst
Jeanette Edith (Pleiman) Barhorst, age 92, formerly of Fort Loramie, passed away peacefully of natural causes Thursday evening, September 1, 2022, at Elmwood Assisted Living in New Bremen, Ohio.
She was born September 24, 1929, in Fort Loramie, Ohio, to the late Frank & Genevieve (Couchot) Pleiman. On April 26, 1947, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in St. Patrick, Jeanette married Alphonso Barhorst who preceded her in death on February 3, 1990.
Surviving are two sons, Gary & Delores Barhorst of Carthage, MO, and Mark L. & Kathy Barhorst of Fort Loramie; Nine grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Phyllis Hilgefort of Fort Loramie and Karen Gaier of St. Marys along with several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Linda & Leroy Benanzer; three siblings, Elizabeth & Clifford Luedeke, Carl & Julia Pleiman and Marlene & Elmer Rethman as well as two brothers-in-law, Louis Hilgefort and Ralph Gaier.
In 1991, Jeanette retired from Copeland of Sidney where she had been employed for 35 years. She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, St. Ann's Ladies Sodality and the Fort Loramie American Legion Auxiliary where she had been a frequent chicken & fish fry volunteer. She was also a blood bank volunteer and belonged to the Minster Eagles Auxiliary. Jeanette enjoyed playing cards, cooking and especially, baking cookies to be given away. Years ago, she had been an avid bowler. She also crocheted a lot of afghan blankets for her family and nursing home residents.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Tuesday, September 6, 2022, at Gehret Funeral Home in Fort Loramie with Deacon Paul Timmerman presiding. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery in McCartyville.
Family and friends may call Tuesday 9:00 to 10:45 AM at Gehret Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the Reminisce Unit at Elmwood or Wilson Health Hospice.
