The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory for the entire state of Ohio as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to adversely impact air quality.
Pollutants across the state are expected to range from the 'Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups' category in the southwest part of the state to the 'Unhealthy' category in the rest of the state. Hourly concentrations at times may reach the 'Very Unhealthy' to 'Hazardous' categories.
It is recommended, when possible, to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory conditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in the nose, throat, and eyes.

Viona Schmiesing
Viona J. Schmiesing, age 92, of Ft. Loramie, Ohio, died at 5:10pm on Saturday, October 15, 2022 at Otterbein St. Marys Senior Life.
She was born April 8, 1930 in Minster, Ohio to the late William & Clara (Wehrman) Prenger. She married the late Harvey Schmiesing on October 18, 1950 in St. Jospeh Catholic Church, Egypt, Ohio.
She is survived by her son Paul Schmiesing & Beth Berning, Egypt, Ohio, daughter Kathy & Lester Tobe, Egypt, Ohio, grandchildren Jeff & Anne Tobe & Sara & Ryan Cahall, great grandchildren Jackson, Finnegan, and Everly Tobe.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Alvera & Othmar Evers, and brothers and sisters in law John & Edna Enneking, George & Neoma Hoying, Edward & Clara Schmiesing, Leonard & Helen Schmiesing, Herb & Alma Boerger, Clete & Janet Schmiesing, and Clete's second wife Mary Schmiesing, Walter & Gertrude Schmiesing, and John & Alice Schmiesing.
Viona was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Egypt and St. Anne's Women's Sodality, member and past board member of the Adoration Guild at Maria Stein Relic Chapel, and a member of the Farm Bureau of Auglaize County. She was also a card player at the New Bremen Senior Center. Following her attendance of Minster High School, she became a homemaker and had also been engaged in dairy farming with her husband. Viona enjoyed playing cards, bowling, crocheting, and traveling.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00am on Monday, October 31, 2022 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Egypt, with Rev. Ken Alt, celebrant burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster from 2 to 6 PM on Sunday, October 30, 2022 and from 9 to 9:45 AM Monday.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Joseph Church and The Shrine of the Holy Relics.
