The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory for the entire state of Ohio as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to adversely impact air quality.
Pollutants across the state are expected to range from the 'Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups' category in the southwest part of the state to the 'Unhealthy' category in the rest of the state. Hourly concentrations at times may reach the 'Very Unhealthy' to 'Hazardous' categories.
It is recommended, when possible, to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory conditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in the nose, throat, and eyes.

Gerry Larkin
Gerry Larkin, 84, died peacefully at Grande Lake Healthcare Center in St. Marys, Ohio, on September 24.
Gerry is survived by her daughter Judy (Steve) of Denver, her son Robert (Stacy) and four grandchildren; Katie (Jack Kiser), Natalie, Shelby, and Emily, all of Coldwater. She is also survived by her sisters, Rena (Cliff) Grant, Nikki (Larry) Rain, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Gerry was born on August 11, 1939 in St. Marys, Ohio to Art and Ruth Boyce.
She graduated from Memorial High School in 1957 and attended the Ohio State School of Cosmetology. She spent many happy years working as a hairdresser in the local area both independently and for a number of salons. Her greatest joy and pride were her children and grandchildren. Gerry's family remembers her as a loving mother and grandmother who always supported and believed in them. She was warm, funny, and much loved. She adored being a mother and was proud to share the joys and accomplishments of her family.
Gerry was passionate about cooking and comforted her family and friends with many delicious meals. She enjoyed socializing with her friends, playing cards and Bingo, reading, and completing crosswords. Gerry was a member of the VFW and American Legion and spent lots of time laughing and spending time with friends there. She also loved paying cards at the Auglaize Council on Aging.
There will be a Celebration of Life on Friday, September 29 at the VFW in St. Marys from 4-8 p.m. Please join us to share the happy memories you have of Gerry. All are welcome to attend this open house to celebrate Gerry's life and legacy with a toast over pizza and beer.
