The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory for the entire state of Ohio as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to adversely impact air quality.
Pollutants across the state are expected to range from the 'Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups' category in the southwest part of the state to the 'Unhealthy' category in the rest of the state. Hourly concentrations at times may reach the 'Very Unhealthy' to 'Hazardous' categories.
It is recommended, when possible, to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory conditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in the nose, throat, and eyes.

Rodney Downey
Rodney E. Downey, 78, of Celina, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys.
He was born on August 18, 1945 in Lima, Ohio to the late John and Ruth (Gremling) Downey. On August 9, 1970 he married Jaruwan (Ganmani) Downey and she survives at the residence in Celina.
He is also survived by his children, Barbara (Kenny) Germann, Celina and Eric (Dina) Downey, Columbus, Indiana; two grandchildren, Blake and Peyton Germann, Celina; four brothers, Joe (Lila) Downey, Celina, Jerry (Sue) Downey, Celina, Mick Downey, Celina and Ralph (Sheila) Downey, South Carolina; and a sister, Judy (Lee) Fennig, Celina.
Rodney was a 1963 graduate of Celina Senior High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam era. He worked at Huffy Bicycle in Celina for 34 years and retired from St. Marys Trucking in St. Marys after 10 years of service. He was a member of Celina VFW Post #5713 and Celina American Legion Post #210.
Funeral services will be at 12:00 pm on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at Cisco Funeral Home in Celina, with Rev. Matt Overman officiating.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm prior to the services at the funeral home. To conclude the services military rites to be conducted by Celina American Legion Post #210 and Celina VFW Post #5713.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Grand Lake Hospice, St. Marys and/or Celina American Legion Post #210 and/or Celina VFW Post #5713.
