The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory for the entire state of Ohio as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to adversely impact air quality.
Pollutants across the state are expected to range from the 'Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups' category in the southwest part of the state to the 'Unhealthy' category in the rest of the state. Hourly concentrations at times may reach the 'Very Unhealthy' to 'Hazardous' categories.
It is recommended, when possible, to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory conditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in the nose, throat, and eyes.

James Krieg
James Krieg, age 76, of Coldwater, died on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at Ohio State University Hospitals.
He was born on May 20, 1948 in Celina to the late Hilbert & Julia (Fullenkamp) Krieg. On September 4, 1971, he married Janet (Stelzer) Krieg and she survives in Coldwater.
He is survived by his two children, Mark & Tammy (Dues) Krieg of Portland and Sharon & Rick Alig of St. Anthony. He is also survived by grandchildren, Mitchell & Becky Alig, Carlie & Gabe Muhlenkamp, Kayla & Derek Albers, Mila Alig, Katie & Aaron Loy, Jackson Lyons, Lucas Lyons, and Nick Lyons, great grandchildren, Nora, Adeline, Kason, Elijah, Vivian, Dax, and 2 on the way, and siblings and in-laws, Mike & Marty Krieg of Coldwater, Terri & Dave Kleinhenz of Maria Stein, Kathy & Sam Mescher of Montezuma, Ruth Krieg of North Star, Mary Dirksen of Celina, and Dick & Judy Stelzer of Dayton.
He is preceded in death by brother, Gary Krieg, and brother-in-law, Carl Dirksen.
Jim was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, the Coldwater Eagles, Coldwater American Legion, and Knights of Columbus. He was an avid golfer at the Wabash Valley Golf Club in Geneva. He also loved woodworking, fishing at his pond and spending time with all his grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, October 21 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Coldwater. Burial will follow in St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Coldwater.
Friends may call from 1 pm to 4 pm on Sunday, October 20 and from 9 am to 10 am on Monday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater.
