The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory for the entire state of Ohio as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to adversely impact air quality.
Pollutants across the state are expected to range from the 'Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups' category in the southwest part of the state to the 'Unhealthy' category in the rest of the state. Hourly concentrations at times may reach the 'Very Unhealthy' to 'Hazardous' categories.
It is recommended, when possible, to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory conditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in the nose, throat, and eyes.

Kathleen McGowan
Kathleen K. McGowan, age 69, of Napoleon, Ohio, and formerly of Celina, passed away peacefully at her home on August 10, 2025. She was born on September 17, 1955, in Coldwater, Ohio, to the late Donald and Roseann (Bollenbacher) Jeffries. On February 21, 1981, she married Robert J. McGowan, who preceded her in death on June 20, 2020.
Kathleen is survived by her son, Robert "Rob" J. McGowan of Napoleon, and her sister, Roxann (Gary) Norberg of Florida. She was preceded in death by her brother, Terry Jeffries.
A 1973 graduate of Celina High School, Kathleen dedicated over 20 years to Deluxe Dry Cleaners in Celina before retiring. In her retirement, she enjoyed the simple pleasures of life - spending quiet days reading and cherishing the companionship of her beloved cats.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Cisco Funeral Home in Celina, with Rev. Matt Overman officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service. Private graveside services will take place at Mercer Memory Gardens in Celina.
