The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory for the entire state of Ohio as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to adversely impact air quality.
Pollutants across the state are expected to range from the 'Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups' category in the southwest part of the state to the 'Unhealthy' category in the rest of the state. Hourly concentrations at times may reach the 'Very Unhealthy' to 'Hazardous' categories.
It is recommended, when possible, to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory conditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in the nose, throat, and eyes.

Lindy Bailey
Lindy Lu Graves Bailey, age 73, of Portland passed away on Tuesday June 16, 2026 at her residence.
She was born in Portland on April 19, 1953 the daughter of Don and Harriet (Lotz) Graves. She was a 1971 Portland High School graduate. She was married to Robert Bailey on November 3, 1974 and later divorced.
She had worked for Hy-Line Hatchery and then Sonoco for twenty four years. Lindy regularly attended all her children's sporting events, traveling to thirty one different states. She continued this with her grandchildren's sporting events, always quietly cheering on her children and grandchildren for over forty years.
Surviving is her son John Bailey (wife Teri) of Coldwater, Ohio, two daughters Andrea DeVoss (husband Trevor) of Farmland and Britt Schmiesing (husband Jason) of Portland, two sisters Luan Wallischeck of Portland and Cindy Weitzel (husband Paul) of Portland, Five grandchildren Nickolas and Kenneth Bailey, Flint and Monte Schmiesing and Megan DeVoss.
Funeral services will be on Wednesday June 24th at 1:00 PM in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Randy Smith presiding. Burial will follow in the Gravel Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 11:00 - 1:00 PM. Memorials can be made to the Jay County Cancer Society.
