The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory for the entire state of Ohio as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to adversely impact air quality.
Pollutants across the state are expected to range from the 'Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups' category in the southwest part of the state to the 'Unhealthy' category in the rest of the state. Hourly concentrations at times may reach the 'Very Unhealthy' to 'Hazardous' categories.
It is recommended, when possible, to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory conditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in the nose, throat, and eyes.

Sherry Wappelhorst
Sherry L. Wappelhorst, age 65, of Fort Recovery, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at the Gardens at St. Henry.
She was born on May 2, 1961, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Eva C. (Sargent) Fulks of Cincinnati, and the late Thomas M. Fulks.
Sherry is survived by her husband of 26 years, Gary R. Wappelhorst, whom she married on April 29, 2000; their son, Jeff (Natasha) Wappelhorst of Findlay, Ohio; their grandchildren, Cameron and Bethany; her brother, Tim (Mary) Fulks of Cincinnati; her in-laws, James (Linda) Wappelhorst of Alpena, Michigan, Ernest Wappelhorst of Rome, Italy, Linda (Jim) Hawkins of Celina, and Rita (Jay Herndon) Barr of Chicago, Illinois.
Sherry was a 1979 graduate of Glen Este High School. She went on to attend Northern Kentucky University and the University of Cincinnati, earning her bachelor's degree. She then continued her education at Wright State University, where she received her master's degree in accounting. Sherry enjoyed a successful career with PAX Machine Works, serving as an Accounting Supervisor for more than 30 years.
Outside of work, Sherry found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved cooking for family and friends, expressing her creativity through various crafts she made, and spending time with her beloved fur babies, who held a special place in her heart. Above all, Sherry treasured the time she spent with her family and loved ones. She and her husband attended Faith Alliance Church in New Bremen.
A celebration of Sherry's life will be held at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at Brockman Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery, with Pastor Trent Fledderjohann officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Guests may visit with her family on Monday, June 22, 2026, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM and again on Tuesday from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM, at Brockman Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery.
