The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory for the entire state of Ohio as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to adversely impact air quality.
Pollutants across the state are expected to range from the 'Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups' category in the southwest part of the state to the 'Unhealthy' category in the rest of the state. Hourly concentrations at times may reach the 'Very Unhealthy' to 'Hazardous' categories.
It is recommended, when possible, to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory conditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in the nose, throat, and eyes.

Norbert Otting
Norbert J. Otting, age 97 of Minster, passed away on Friday, July 10, 2026 at Elmwood of New Bremen. He was born May 31, 1929 in Minster Ohio to the late Joseph & Elizabeth (Zumberge) Otting. He married Norma Bertke on October 23, 1954 and she preceded him in death on November 8, 2019.
He survived by four children, Steve & Deb Otting of Plymouth, Michigan, Randy & Lois Otting of Ft. Loramie, Bob & Deb Otting of Minster and Jill & John St. Clair of Minster; 11 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two grandchildren, siblings: Vernon Otting and Marie Otting, Henry & Augie Otting, Cornelius & Phyllis Otting, Martha & Stanley Kleinhenz and Verona & Don Poeppelman, in-laws: Leander & Vera Bertke, Cyril & Dorothy Bertke, Wilbur & Anna Bertke; Euleta & Werner Bensman, Louis & Evelyn Bertke, Ernest & Rita Bertke, Marinus & Mary Ann (infant twins) Dennis Bertke.
Nobert was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Minster, The Minster Knights of Columbus, Minster American Legion & VFW. He was a founding trustee for the Minster Area Life Squad. He was a veteran of the US Army during the Korean War and was a purple Heart recipient. He was the owner/operator of the Mobil Station in Minster.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday July 15, 2026 at St. Augustine Catholic Church, Minster. Burial will full military honors will follow the Mass at St. Augustin Cemetery.
Friends may call at Hogenkamp Funeral Home from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, July 14, and from 9:00-9:30 a.m. Wednesday.
