The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory for the entire state of Ohio as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to adversely impact air quality.
Pollutants across the state are expected to range from the 'Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups' category in the southwest part of the state to the 'Unhealthy' category in the rest of the state. Hourly concentrations at times may reach the 'Very Unhealthy' to 'Hazardous' categories.
It is recommended, when possible, to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory conditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in the nose, throat, and eyes.

Mildred Barhorst
Mildred C. Barhorst, 90, formerly of Newport, died at 4:10 p.m. Nov. 27, 2007, at Fair Haven County Home, Sidney.
She was born March 20, 1917, in Fort Loramie, to John and Anna Schlater Borchers. On Nov. 3, 1937, she married William J. Barhorst, who died Jan. 12, 2000.
Surviving are a son, Jerold (Sheila), Russia; two daughters, Marilyn (Jerry) Winner, Fort Loramie, and Janice (Fred) Prenger, Newport; three sisters, Leona Steinemann, Minster, Agnes (Vernon) Winner, Osgood, and Mary Lou (Homer) Bornhorst, Fort Loramie; three sisters-in-law, Charlotte Borchers, Minster, and Henrietta (Sam) Dosek and Luella Borchers, all of Fort Loramie; 12 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are three brothers, Louie, John and Al Borchers; three brothers and their wives, Clarence and Bernadette Borchers, Tony and Hilda Borchers and Herb and Ann Borchers; three sisters and their husbands, Martha and Gilbert Hilgefort, Emma and Richard Kaiser and Helen and Gerald Barga; and a brother-in-law, Carl Steinemann.
He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Newport, and its Altar Sodality, and the Knights of St. John Auxiliary, Fort Loramie.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. Steven Shoup officiating. Burial is at the church cemetery.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Friday and 9-10 a.m. Saturday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster.
