The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory for the entire state of Ohio as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to adversely impact air quality.
Pollutants across the state are expected to range from the 'Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups' category in the southwest part of the state to the 'Unhealthy' category in the rest of the state. Hourly concentrations at times may reach the 'Very Unhealthy' to 'Hazardous' categories.
It is recommended, when possible, to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory conditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in the nose, throat, and eyes.

Elmer Bernard
Elmer J. "Farmer" Bernard, 82, 441 E. Kremer-Hoying Road, St. Henry, died at 3:30 p.m. Nov. 26, 2007, at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton.
He was born Dec. 14, 1924, in St. Henry to Anthony and Regina Stammen Bernard. On Feb. 2, 1953, he married Mary L. Harner, who survives.
Other survivors are two sons, Jim (Cindy) and John, all of Coldwater; two daughters, JoAnn, Ashtabula, and Judy, Ogden, Utah; seven sisters, Ella Gaier, Fort Loramie, Ruth Seitz, Dayton, Flo Ferris, Columbus, Pegg (Bill) Wolf, Fort Recovery, Joan (Greg) Hausfeld, St. Marys, Ann (Lou) Brunswick, Coldwater, and Jane (Walter) Uhlenhake, Dayton; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two brothers, Urban and Jim; and two sisters, Wilma Gels and Mary Bernard.
He was a retired semi driver. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church, American Legion Post 648, St. Henry, and the St. Henry Fire Department.
Funeral mass is 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. Larry Wyen officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery with military services at the graveside.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Friday and 9-10 a.m. Saturday at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home, St. Henry.
