The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory for the entire state of Ohio as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to adversely impact air quality.
Pollutants across the state are expected to range from the 'Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups' category in the southwest part of the state to the 'Unhealthy' category in the rest of the state. Hourly concentrations at times may reach the 'Very Unhealthy' to 'Hazardous' categories.
It is recommended, when possible, to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory conditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in the nose, throat, and eyes.

Vernabel Compton
Vernabel Louise Compton, 81, of Van Wert, died at 2:05 a.m. Feb. 4, 2008, at Van Wert County Hospital.
She was born March 29, 1926, to Floyd W. and Estella Murphy. On April 14, 1945, she married Gale Compton, who survives.
Other survivors are two sons, Randall (Patricia) and Ronald (Eve), all of St. Marys; a daughter, Jacqueline Sherer, Van Wert; and a brother Billy (Shirley) Murphy, Findlay; five grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Deceased is a sister, Ruth Moore.
She retired from the Van Wert National Bank after 10 years of service. She was a member of the Eastern Star and had attended The Calvary Evangelical Church, Van Wert. She was a member of the Wassenberg Art Center and the Van Wert Camera Club. She was a graduate of the former Haviland-Scott High School, Paulding County.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Cowan & Son Funeral Home, Van Wert, the Revs. Paul Miller and Chad Chute officiating. Burial will be at The Ridge Cemetery, Van Wert.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Contributions can be made to Van Wert County Council on Aging Transportation or Van Wert Manor Nursing Home Activity Fund.
